Famine Studies Conference 2026

An online conference on the politics of famine, including political causes, hunger as a political or military tool, humanitarianism, moral economies, activism, media narratives, memory, oral history, cultural expression and research ethics. The event is co-hosted by the University of Bath and Wageningen University and welcomes contributions in English and languages used in famine-affected contexts.

- £60; limited free or subsidised places may be available
- Submission requirements
- Abstract of 200–250 words plus a biography of about 100 words. Include the core argument, method, contribution, name, affiliation, contact details and preferred presentation format.

- Fully online via Zoom; traditional papers and creative, multimedia or practice-based contributions are welcomed.
